My father-in-law is a Master Captain. Seriously. That's not just something he wants to be called. He's actually a Master Captain.
When visiting a couple of months ago, he wanted some new photos of him and his boat. The idea was great. He went out on his sailboat, I went out on a paddle boat with a $1000 of photography equipment. What could go wrong? Also, trying to capture a tack-sharp photo of a sailboat cutting through the water while balancing on a much, much smaller boat, in low light, was fool's errand.
Overall, the shoot was fine. Sadly, the weather was not. It rained during the day and was cloudy in the evening. I took some artisic licensing on the editing of the sky and background. In the end, I found a few portraits I liked, but I would really like the opportunity to try this again. I feel like I learned a hundred lessons during this shoot that would benefit me if given another chance.
