Last November, when working on my portrait project, Kristen was gracious enough to be one of my first subjects. Kristen is good people. I was still learning photography and she was patient as a fumbled around and tried different techniques. The photos were fine, in spite of me, and after I had more practice editing, I was able to do a better job processing them.
A year later, Kristen was gracious enough to be a subject again and I put a year of experience to work. In looking at the photos, I can see I am still not where I want to be, but I definitely see a difference between now and where I was. I think environmental portraits are what I enjoy shooting most.
We decided on a Fall theme for the shoot and I tried to process the photos with Autumn colors in mind. In addition to the header image above, below are three of my favorite. I color-toned the shadows - adding blue to create classic look in the first two photos and reds in the last one. The black and white photo was based on another photo I liked. I think the washed out shadows in the photo create a great black and white photo.
